Andrew Holmes, born and raised in San Diego, began dancing at the age of 16 when he fell in love with the art form. He attended San Diego State University where he received his B.F.A. in Dance in 2012 and was also named the "Outstanding Student in Dance." At SDSU he trained in Modern and Ballet and performed works by teachers Melissa Nunn, Leslie Seiters, Patricia Sandback, and Joe Alter. He has danced professionally with Mojalet Dance Collective since 2009 under the direction of Faith Jensen-Ismay and with Malashock Dance under the direction of John Malashock since the beginning of 2013. Andy has been fortunate enough to perform in numerous venues in San Diego as well as New York, Arizona, Germany,Switzerland, and London. He teaches Contemporary technique at The Vine and the Malashock School of Dance and has taught master classes in numerous San Diego high schools as well as Germany. Andy has also had the opportunity to work with Michael Mizerany, The Platt Brothers, The PGK Project, Sound Dance Company, Brianna Lopez, Angelica Bell, Jaime Nixon, and Keith Johnson. Andy regularly choreographs new work for Mojalet's junior company, Jamolet, and has been commissioned for student works at El Camino and Mission Hills High Schools.

 

His most recent venture has been in the United Kingdom with Lisa Spackman of Two Thirds Sky in a site-specific work entitled "Eventide" that will bring to life the 600 year-old buildings of Higham Ferrers in a night of torch-lit dances.

 

​Andy wishes to immerse himself as fully as possible in the professional dance world so that he can explore and grow both as an artist and a human being.
